6. Ballot Access Petitions & Public Records

As a ballot-qualified political party in the District of Columbia, the Party periodically circulates nominating petitions and other ballot-access petitions.

  • Signing a petition is a public act. Once filed with the DC Board of Elections (DCBOE), petitions become public records and signer information (such as name, address, and signature) may be reviewed, challenged, or inspected by DCBOE, opposing campaigns, and members of the public as permitted under DC election law.
  • The Party is not responsible for how petition information is used once it becomes part of the public record.

7. Voter Registration & Party Membership Records

Individuals who register to vote in the District of Columbia and select "DC Statehood Green" as their party affiliation become part of the official DCBOE voter file.

  • Consistent with DC election law, the Party may obtain voter file information, such as name, address, and party affiliation, from DCBOE to identify, contact, and organize party members and prospective members.
  • The Party does not control the DCBOE voter file. Questions about voter registration records should be directed to the DC Board of Elections.

8. Political Contributions & Campaign Finance Compliance

  • Contributions to the Party are subject to the campaign finance laws of the District of Columbia, administered by the DC Office of Campaign Finance (OCF), and, where applicable, federal law administered by the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
  • We may be required to collect and publicly report contributor name, address, occupation, and employer, along with contribution amounts, for contributions that exceed applicable reporting thresholds.
  • Campaign finance reports filed with DCOCF or the FEC become public records.
